Hey curvy girls all over the world,

This is what I wore to the YFF Blogger Conference. I found this dress at H&M and immediately grabbed it up. I truly love that store and how their size Large manages to fit a wide range of curvy girl sizes. As you already know, I rarely wear anything without having a pop of color on, so, I thought my pink (my favorite color) sandals would be the perfect compliment to this dress. I wore leggings because I have a big ole’ booty that causes the back of the dress to rise higher than the front. I am not Marilyn Monroe so I didn’t want the dress to fly up and give everyone a peek at my goodies. However, I actually liked how the leggings looked with the dress. I also loved the movement of the dress, it made me feel sexy and free.
Being that I was going to the conference after work, I didn’t want to lug another bag so I threw on my go to white blazer to play down the dress.
My favorite part of this dress is the back. Oh, so, sexy!
Any who, I will be posting about my experience at the YFF conference soon. Hope everyone is nice like at FFFWeek

Hey curvy girls:
Reader Asha asked where did the lovely and slimmed down curvy star Raven Symone get her color blocked dress that she wore to the XBOX 360 party last week. Well Asha, Miss Symone is rocking the $653 Zac Posen color block dress. The dress was originally priced at $1,090. This fabulous dress is made of cotton and elastene. It looks like it is only available at SAKS.
I must say that Raven’s curves look awesome in this dress.

Hey curvy girls,
It’s been a long and exhausting week. However, I am so excited about next week because it will be Stylish Curve’s 1 year anniversary. I have so many ideas for this blog which I will sahare with you all at a later date.  For those of you who are still sketchy about Loft (formerly known as Ann Taylor Loft) I just wanted to share this dress I bought from their 40% off sale about a week ago. What drew me to the dress was the draping and the design at the top of the dress, plus, it had pockets (which I love). Yes, it may be a little simple for those of you who like more edgier looks, but, it was something about it that I just thought was so cute and casual. When I put it on, the jersey material was so soft and comfy. It felt more like lounge wear. I will say that I need to take the top part in because it is a little too big. I had to keep pulling it up. My bottom half is the largest part on me so, I try to fit that first and tailor the rest (future post on tailoring). Other than that it was perfect.

Last year, I bought this little bomber jacket from Loft and I thought it would be a nice youthful touch to the dress. To make the look more interesting, I added a pair of leopard print Michael Kors (2nd fave designer) pumps that I scored on Ebay for $30 and only worn once (so they say). I promise to put the necklace to rest and shop for other necklaces (this Logo necklace has saved me so much money) to add to my jewelry wardrobe. Now, I have an addiction to this Loft cuff bracelet. You will see this again.
Oh, and Loft is offering 40% off sale items in store and online as of today. In case you like the dress too they still have it and they have other colors.

Please note: The Loft dress and jacket were all purchased with my hard earned money. However, Loft did gift to me the cuff bracelet. I am a true fan of Loft and do not receive anything for promoting them on this blog.

Lee Lee’s Valise

The standout logo

About three years ago I received an email from the online plus size store Kiyonna. In that email was an introduction to a new plus size boutique called Lee Lee’s Valise in Brooklyn, NY.  I was so excited and thought, man, somebody stole my idea. The next day I stopped by the Caroll Gardens store and congratulated the owner on doing something wonderful for the world of plus size fashion. I then told every magazine forum I was on that there was a plus size boutique in Brooklyn, that they should check out. Fastforward to now, Lee Lee’s Valise has grown and is doing big things. You can see her store frequently featured on TLC’s What Not To Wear and plus size beauties like Jill Scott has worn pieces directly from her store. Lee Lee’s Valise has been featured on tons of magazines as the go to place for the plus size curvy girls. She even offers exclusive designs on some of her handbags and belts in store. I wanted to share with you some of her new items.

Jill Scott will be wearing this red multi colored floral dress on an upcoming episode of Law& Order SVU
This weekend I decided to revisit the boutique and see what they had to offer. The upscale boutique is moderately to expensively priced with butter soft leathers and the highest quality of silk, cotton, and matte jersey. Plus size designers such as Igigi, Donna Ricco, LuLu (best selling dresses), and a host of others fill the shop with the latest and classic trends.
Lisa is very hands on with her customers honestly telling them what looks good and what should just be put back on the rack. Her husband also gives pretty good insight to what looks good and what doesn’t. The clothes they sell are made in America and of good quality. Many of the dresses are washable and non dry clean.

When asked how they felt about being one of the best plus size stores to go to, they say” If everyone else is a minus then we’re a plus. Otherwise we’re just a store with different sizes just like any other boutique.”

My Verdict: Great store for work dresses and evening events. Although prices are moderate to high, the quality of the material is well worth it. Love the variety of jeggings and skinny jeans.
If you haven’t already go and check Lee Lee’s Valise out. Don’t live in NYC you can also purchase things online at:

Ann Taylor Loft 2010 Summer Collection

Hey Curvy Girls:

On Tuesday I had the privelage (Thanks TBF) along with other bloggers to get an exclusive look at Ann Taylor Lofts 2010 summer collection. Loft (formerly known as Ann Taylor Loft) is one of my favorite stores to shop in, so it’s no surprise that I liked just about everything I saw. Loft is one of those chain stores that has great quality pieces that work for just about every aspect of your life.

The summer collection did not disappoint. Geometric and animal prints dominated a number of dresses and skirts. There were clean classic nautical looks and ethnic inspired looks. As soon as I walked into the studio I immediately felt like I was about to go on vacation. Half of the room gave a beachy Miami feel and the other half gave an african safari feel.

As a curvy girl I was looking at how many of the pieces would fit and flatter a curvy girls shape. Unsurprisingly many of the pieces would flatter a curvy girl with ample hips, butt, thighs, and breast. Not only were the clothes chic, the jewelry was big and bold, just how I like it. Large necklaces with baubles, coral, and lucite complimented just about every outfit.

Dresses and Jackets are under $100

Accessories under $50

And in case you did not know, Loft carries sizes 0-18, so many of us plus size curvy girls can get in on these looks too.

Summer Collection hits stores in June

Take a look at some of my favorites:

My Favorite Accessories

Many fashion stylists and insiders believe that curvy girls should stay away from horizontal stripes because they say it makes you look bigger. I have always disagreed with this fashion don’t, because you have to take into consideratio the fabric, color, style, and width of the stripes. Yes, I do believe all horizontal stripes are not created equal, you just have to find the right cut and style for your body.

Let’s say you have a round stomach and you like a t-shirt style dress that has large horizontal stripes that hit you right at the largest part of your waist, to detract attention from that area you could wear a long necklace or choose a fitted one button blazer or long grandpa cardigan to wear with it.

If you have allowed this so called fashion rule to stop you from buying horizontal stripes then it’s time for you to do away with that pesky rule and dive into some of springs classic and colorful horizontal striped pieces.

Celebrities at Saturday’s SAG awards did not disappoint. Dresses were chic, sexy, and elegant. Below are some of my favorite curvy celebrity dresses.

Glee star Amber Riley hit all the right notes in this champagne colored fitted knee length dress. The ruching flattens her stomach and the color compliments her complexion. I am also loving the shoes. She gets an A+ for this one.
Clean House host Niecey Nash looked poised and elegant in a black and white beaded waist floor length gown. The show stopper is the oversized green jeweled necklace. I kind of which she would have done more with the hair and makeup.

The nights winner Mo’Nique looked chic in a jewel encrusted sleeve v-neck gown. The light pink dress complimented her skin tone. Being that the dress was simple, I think she could have pinned her hair up, spiced up the make up and wore a little more jewelry to really standout.
Breakout newcomer Gabourey Sidibe looked cute in a blue ruched floor length gown. I love the color, but, I thought the design of the dress was a little plain. Hopefully for the Oscars she breaks away from the long Elvira-esque gowns and go for something a little more youthful.
