>WEEKEND STYLE: CARDIGAN CHIC

>

This weekend I wanted to keep things casual but still look put together. I decided to pull out my Calvin Klein waterfall animal print cardigan that I got on sale at Lord and Taylor last week. The cardigan is actually a little too big but it’s nothing that a belt couldn’t fix. I layered a black turtleneck under it so that I would stay warm. As I said last year, Calvin Klein’s fall 2010 collection was one of my favorites. It was perfect cuts and prints that any curvy girl would want to wear young or mature.

The cardigan is very versatile. It looks just as good open as it does closed. I will be wearing it to work this week over one of my dresses.

I am a crazy earring fanatic. I love big earrings or earrings with unique detail. I scored these earrings at Strawberry’s and I love the onyx stone and the draped chains around it.

>SHIRT DRESSES TO COMPLIMENT YOUR CURVES

>

Shirt dresses are one of the most undeniably chic pieces a curvy girl can have in her wardrobe. It’s as essential as the trench coat.  Depending on the cut it can streamline your curves as well as enhance your voluptuous assets. We’ve seen curvy celebrities from Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, and even the First Lady all donning this simply chic piece. For those of you who are beginning to build a spring wardrobe be sure to add this classic look to your list. For the bold curvy girl try one in animal print. For the sexy sophisticated curvy girl, try an asymmetric cascading ruffle style shirt dress that can take you from the board room to drinks after work. What ever your style, there’s a shirt dress waiting for you. We even helped you out by picking out a few of our favorites.

>JEWELRY THAT LITERALLY MAKES A STATEMENT

>

What girl doesn’t love statement jewelry? I know I do! Which is why I was intrigued by a slightly new jewelry line called Shameless Jewelry. A collection of rings, bracelets, and necklaces that actually has very interesting statements embedded in them.
Designer Shea Curry is an actress who was in films such as Princess Diaries 2. Whenever filming she would make jewelry for her female cast mates and crew. Her creations garnered attention when she made her own jewelry for her wedding and it was featured in InStyle Weddings Magazine. Shea decided she had something special and continued making her unique creations which she calls Shameless Jewelry because she considered herself unabashedly bold, bodacious, spunky, and saucy. Shea wanted to showcase the dual personalities of a female.
Her latest collection is the Naughty/Nice collection that combines provocative phrases using 100% sterling silver and 14K gold plating and each piece is handcrafted. Prices range from $35-$230.
Checkout the Shameless Jewelry Collection. You can also go to the website at Shameless Jewelry.

>THE PICTURE THAT WAS WAITING FOR ME

>

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I just wanted to share with you my new picture that I got from Century 21 this week. I kind of feel like this picture was waiting for me because it was the only one of its kind left. I was walking back and forth past it, just looking at it. I then saw the sign that said $19.99, but I wasn’t sure if it was for this painting or the other 5 paintings around it. I asked the sales woman and she said, “yup, this one is $19.95.” I said, “I’ll take it,” with a big kool-aid smile.

Just looking at this picture inspires me to be and live fabulously.

>AT THE OFFICE: COBALT BLUE AND BLACK

>

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Well, it’s another day at the office and I decided to wear one of my fave colors today, cobalt blue. I figured the bright color would keep me energized for the day since it’s so busy. My co-workers always get excited when I ask them to take pics of me in the office for my blog. Sometimes I get a little stinky with them when I want them to act like it’s a photo shoot. They always look at me like, Alissa, please, we are at work not a photography studio. LOL! It’s hump day so, the week’s almost over.

>FRINGE WITH BENEFITS

>

It looks like fringe will be the hot detail for Spring which is alright by me. Fringe detailing gives any look that bohemian vibe. You just have to be careful of how much of it you incorporate in your outfit. You don’t want to be head to toe in fringe which is why you should only wear one fringe detailed item at a time. I love a cross body fringe bag with jeans and a tunic or a pair of sexy sandals with fringe detailing around the ankles with a sheath dress. Whether you like a fringe detaild dress, jacket, or shoes SC took the liberty of finding you a few pieces that can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe.
Are you into the fringe trend?

>GRAY AND CLOUDY DAYS PLEASE GO AWAY!

>

It’s still cloudy and snowy in NYC and I’m ready to scream. Winter is definitely not my season. It’s amazing how weather can really affect your mood. Sometimes when the weather is groggy, cold, and uninspiring I began to feel the same way. The only thing that makes me feel happy or that sunny days are ahead is when I look at bright colors. That’s why I always buy outerwear accessories in bright colors. From gloves to hats. I love my bright blue leather gloves because they remind me of the old school candy “Now and Later.” Don’t ask me why, but they just do. This year I have become a fan of turbans and I found this super cute pink turban from ASOS.

Just looking at the pink turban and blue gloves changes my gray groggy winter mood to a happy one. Speaking of gray, I scored the gray coat that I’ve been eyeing from ASOS for awhile. I find it difficult sometimes to judge how ASOS clothes will fit because the clothes just hang on their models. So, I wasn’t sure how the coat was going to fit. I wanted a gray coat this winter because I wanted to break up my collection of brightly colored coats. Sometimes a girl just needs a simple coat with great details. What drew me to this coat was details like the structured puffed shoulder, funnel neck collar, and twin epaulettes.

I do love the warmth of the coat and how the funnel neck collar swallows you up like a warm blanket. I’ll admit that the double breasted silhouette does make my boobs look bigger, but, I’m okay with that because news flash, I have big boobs. I also like that the bottom of the coat flares out and creates a slight pleated effect from behind.

Well, I think I’m done complaining about the winter for now, so, I hope you guys are having a great day and staying warm and stylish in this crazy weather.
