>LOFT SPRING 2011 PREVIEW

>

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last month I was invited to checkout Loft’s Spring 2011 preview. I wrote about it on The Budget Fashionista but just in case some of you missed out, I wanted to share it here with you. One of the things I love about Loft is their easy breezy chic styles. I love that all of their pieces are interchangeable or interesting enough to stand alone. Normally for Spring and Fall they have amazing comfortable dresses that can transition from day to night. I was disappointed that for their Spring collection they offered very few spring dresses.
Nevertheless, I thought they did offer a chic variety of separates that gave a cool downtown girl feel. For more of my review checkout the The Budget Fashionista.

>WHAT I WANT NOW: JEWEL TONES

>

This week is all about wanting jewel tones. I’m not sure if it ‘s because of the holiday season, but, jewel tone colors are just great on every complexion. I’ll admit that I’m kind of a sucker for pink jewel tone colors. I love when the color is in a dress or a hot pair of shoes. Below is a few of SC’s picks to feed our yearning for pieces with jewel tone colors.

1. ASOS CURVE Raw Edge One Shoulder Dress

ASOS never fails the curvy girls. This dress should be worn to all your fancy holiday party’s.

2. Ann Taylor Silk Sleeveless Ruffle Top

SC loves this top under a blazer or cropped leather jacket. We love how the ruffles frame the neck.

3. Menbur Peeptoe Platforms

These peeptoe pumps are so cute and girlie. We love them with a flirty little frock or peeking from under a pair of black trousers.

4.Wet Seal Color Block Bandage Dress

A bandage dress is one of the most flattering dresses. We love that this dress is in beautiful warm blue jewel tone colors. The blues kind of remind us of the ocean.
This is the kind of top you can rock out in. Pair it with a pair of black skinny jeans and mean leather boots for a little rock and roll flair.
We love this bright yellow chain bag to wear during the day with blues, browns, and purples. Yellow is the ultimate pop of color.
Are you in to jewel tones this season?

>LEATHER AND LACE

>

It has truly been a long week and the weekend just started. I decided to go out and get some drinks Friday with a friend. Since it was a bit chilly outside, I thought it would be the perfect time to breakout my biker jacket. I threw it on over a sheer top and with my pale pink lace skirt. I also put on my over the knee boots but pushed them down for more of a scrunched look. I love big dressy earrings so I added my black and silver chandelier earrings.
I love all the zippers on this leather biker jacket and the toughness makes me feel like a little bad ass. I bought this lace skirt this summer and just adore how much it works with other things in my wardrobe. I’m also wearing my fuchsia lipstick from MAC called, “Girl About Town.” I only wear it at night because it’s a little bright. I didn’t like how the lipstick looked on its own so I put gloss over it.

What I’m Wearing
Leather Biker Jacket-Gifted from Jessica London
Sheer Top-Torrid
Lace Skirt-Loft
Boots: Michael Antonio
Earrings:Forever21

>VH1 CASTING FOR NEW REALITY SHOW CALLED THE BIG GIRLS CLUB

>

THE BIG GIRLS CLUB

Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I checked my email and found a little press release that said: VH1 is casting for a show called the Big Girls Club. Uh, oh, could it be, a reality show for plus size women that doesn’t involve us losing weight?

Well, according to the casting release:

VH1 NOW CASTING THE HOTTEST VOLUPTUOUS WOMEN WHO ARE PHAT, FAB AND CHIC

You’re big and beautiful and know how to own it! You’re phat, fab and chic and have the big and bold personality to match. You’ve got the style, sex appeal and sass to get noticed without being a sample size. Time to show the world that big girls have more fun!

VH1 in association with Doron Ofir Casting and Left Right Productions is now casting the hottest, most bodacious, voluptuous single women who are at least 21 years old and appear younger than 35 to represent the BBW’s in a brand new docu-series that will show a long-awaited glimpse into the ultra-fab world of big girls! If you have your cake and eat it too, we want to hear your story.

Whether you’re nightlife’s A-list, a full-sized fashionista, big and business savvy or singlin’ and minglin’ with L.A.’s hottest, we want to meet you!Step aside skinny bitches, the spotlight isn’t big enough for the both us.Big girls don’t cry… they freakin’ party!Email BigGirlsClubCasting@gmail.com with your Name, Age, Phone Number and 2 recent photos.

Unlike The Bad Girls Club, I’m hoping that this docu series will be able to shine a better spotlight on plus size women who are not obsessed with being skinny, who love and embrace their bodies, and most importantly who don’t apologize for being above a size 12.

I’m not going to get my hopes too high because things are just unraveling. Right now they’re just casting, so, if you think you were destined to be a reality tv star and want to rep for the girls with extra meat on their bones then send your pics in. SC can’t wait to see what this show brings.

What are your thoughts on new reality show?

>CUPCAKE AND CUDDLEBUNNY DRESS REVIEW

>

At the Redress Indie Plus show I saw a voluptuous model sashay down the runway in Etsy designer Cupcake and Cuddlebunny’s Lollipop dress. A black and white polka dot dress that made me say, “I need that in my life.” It was love at first sight. I just loved the classic yet modern look of this dress. I’m a sucker for polka dots and of course anything with ruffles. I couldn’t wait until the next day to purchase the dress at the trunk show. As my luck would have it, I was unable to get to the Redress store the weekend of the trunk show and I didn’t have anytime during the week to stop by the boutique to get it. I figured the dress would be gone by the following week.
This past weekend, I stopped by Redress just to look around and behold there was the Lollipop dress. It was only one left. I said to myself, “It’s probably not going to be my size.” I leaned into the rack to check what size  it was. I could not believe it! The dress was my size. It must have been waiting for me. I immediately went to the fitting room to try it on and I loved how it looked. All it needed was minor alterations for a perfect fit because the top of the dress was too loose. I loved the cotton bow ruffles on the bottom of the dress and the soft satin top. The dress had such a retro yet sophisticated feel.
The only thing that I did not like about the dress was that it looked good on, but, once I started inspecting the construction of the dress I wasn’t as pleased. The stitching was a little shabby due to a few loose threads, the material was very lightweight, almost paper thin. I think the designer could have bumped up the level of quality.

Nevertheless, I still liked how the dress looked and fit. I will be wearing it to upcoming holiday cocktail parties. I added the red belt and red shoes for pops of color. I could easily swap out the reds for blues if I wanted to change up the dress.
I think the Cupcake and CuddleBunny line shows a lot of promise with their retro animated girlie style. While some items were a little too costumey for me, there were a few other pieces like the french silk dress that had flair.
You can checkout Cupcake and Cuddlebunny on Etsy.com and they still have the Lollipop dress.
