>NEW YORK & COMPANY 2010 FALL PREVIEW

>Hey curvy girls,

A few weeks ago I was invited to go to New York & Company’s 2010 fall fashion preview. NY&C has always been curvy girl friendly, by carrying up to size 18 in store (which many stores don’t). My only problem with NY&C is that some of the cuts and sizing are questionable. It’s as if they carry the plus sizes but, they are not cut for real curvy girls that have hips, a butt, and thighs. Have any of you ever ran into this problem?
Over the past few seasons NY&C has been stepping up their style game. They have strayed away from their normal business and weekend casual looks and traded it in for more high fashion, uptown meets downtown styles. You can check out more of my review on the line on The Budget Fashionista.
Here are a few picks from their line that I thought were curvy girl worthy.

What are your thoughts on NY&C’s fall 2010 collection?

>SKINNY GIRL FASHION FOR CURVY GIRLS

>Hey curvy girls,

I have one more recreation for you. I guess I’m on a roll today. Check out Disney channel star Selena Gomez in a bright yellow v-neck style dress and some seriously sexy suede gladiator sandals.

A wrap dress is a curvy girls best friend. It’s one of those dresses that can hide a multitude of sins while making you look like you are in your best shape. Another great thing about the wrap dress is that it has the ability to expand with you, when you’ve had one too many donuts. Gladiator sandals aren’t going anywhere, so, what’s one more pair added to your shoe collection.

Do you like Selena’s outfit?

>SKINNY GIRL FASHION FOR CURVY GIRLS!

>Hey curvy girls,

It’s Monday and you know what that means, it’s time to recreate a slender celebrity look for the curvy girls. Today we are recreating super model Heidi Klum’s chic casual black outfit she was spotted in last week.

I love that Heidi chose an animal print top to make her simple all black look more interesting. In this outfit she looks like a true New Yorker. If you are not a New Yorker, you should know that we love anything black and most importantly, New York girls love their high heels and we wear them with any and everything.

I chose this look because of it’s simplicity. Sometimes we don’t need to shop, we have everything we need in our closets and all it takes is for us to choose that standout patterned top (such as an animal print) and pair it with our basics.  By now we all should have a black boyfriend blazer in our closets and if you don’t, you need to get one ASAP. You should also have a pair of  leggings, jeggings, or skinny jeans in black. Put it all together and you have one chic look. Take a note from Heidi and throw on a few accessories like a finger ring, y-necklace and a pair of cool shades and you are ready to go.

If you want to purchase any of the pieces, just click on the pictures. Except for the blazer and jeggings.

Boyfriend Blazer, One Stop Plus, $34.90

Black Jeggings, ASOS $42.74

Let me know, if you are you feeling Heidi’s look?

>FRENCH ELLE GOES CURVY WITH TARA LYNN

>Hey curvy girls,

If you haven’t heard by now French Elle features plus size model Tara Lynn on the cover of their April issue. I first heard the news reading one of my favorite blogs NY Mag’s The Cut. As soon as I saw the spread I immediately thought she looked beautiful and like the everyday curvy girl we see walking down the street. I was slighlty disappointed in the style choices because I thought they were a little bland and safe. A fashionable curvy girl is rarely safe in her wardrobe choices. We love pushing the skinny girl fashion envelope.

It seemed as if the stylist lacked a bit of creativity. They could have chosen a few more accessories for the cover shot. For the actual spread, I wish they had chosen more colors, prints, and better shapes. I hate when they put plus size women in anything oversized like that trench coat that Tara is wearing. When I see that I think it gives a hidden message that if you are plus size you should only wear muted colors and simple shapes. The stylist should have taken notes from some of the poplular fatshion blogs to ee what curvy girls really wear. However, I did like that they put her in a bathing suit and a few fitted pieces.

What are your thoughts about Tara Lynn on the cover of French Elle?
